Throughout the year the GMAA will enter major New England Races as a team. Races include the Boston Marathon, the New England Cross Country Championships, and the 7 USATF-NE grand prix races (a variety of distances, specific races change year to year). While the team scoring is different at each of the three types of races listed, each has a policy of allowing nearly unlimited team entries with the fastest of each division (age group) counting towards the team score. Thus the more the merrier!

Already set to race for the green and white of the GMAA? Please go to and fill out the following interest form to let us know which races you are interested in.

Are you interested in helping to recruit more GMAA runners to participate in team races (such as making a few phone calls or emails)? Email us and volunteer!

Would you like to run on the GMAA racing team?

What the GMAA does for you:
  • For a race more than a 100 miles away, the club will rent a van(s) and/or a car(s) to get interested runners to the event. Note that some runners elect to get to the race site on their own. If there is enough interest, there can also be a early morning, race day carpool.
  • For a race more than a 100 miles away, the club will arrange a room block at a hotel near the race. Runners pay for their portion of a room, but with room sharing the cost can become very affordable.
  • GMAA runners will typically meet for dinner the night before and breakfast the morning of the race.
  • As each race nears, a web page with pertinent information will be posted on this site give division rosters, hotel and travel information, links to the specific race, etc.
  • Once a runner competes in two USATF-New England team race (grand prix or cross country) as a GMAA & USATF runner, team race entry fees will be paid for by the GMAA for the rest of the year - buy two and get the rest free!
What the runner is responsible for:
  • Obtaining a USATF-New England membership ($30 per year), available on-line at www.usatf.org.Remember to list your team as GMAA, club 79 of the New England Association.
  • Paying for the race cost. Most of the team races have a discounted entry fee when the team signs up together.
  • While a GMAA singlet/shirt is not mandatory, usage is encouraged. The club provides the membership singlets/shirts at cost. Visit the GMAA clothing link for details. Note: any GMAA member that gets their picture published in a newspaper or magazine while wearing their singlet will get a $25 SkiRack gift certificate!
Who can run on the GMAA team?
  • Any GMAA member can run for the GMAA. If you aren't a member, consider joining! If you aren't sure if your membership is up-to-date email us to inquire.
  • Speed is not a qualification. Remember, all can run, the fastest score, but we all have a fun time!

  • A runner racing for the GMAA is not required to run in all team races that the GMAA participates in.
